What Is an Adhesive Dispensing Gun?

Oct 10, 2026

In the world of bonding and sealing, precision is everything. Whether you’re a professional craftsman, a maintenance engineer, or a DIY enthusiast, the adhesive dispensing gun (specifically the AB glue gun shown here) is a game-changer for working with two-component adhesives. This beginner’s guide breaks down the basics of this indispensable tool, so you can master its core functions and uses in no time.

An adhesive dispensing gun is a specialized manual tool designed exclusively for two-component (AB) adhesives. Unlike single-component glue guns that melt hot glue sticks, this tool is engineered to work with dual-cartridge adhesives—where two separate glue formulas (Component A and Component B) must be mixed in exact proportions to activate their bonding power.

The gun in the image is a classic manual AB glue gun, featuring an ergonomic pistol grip, a dual-piston push system, and a cartridge slot that fits standard two-component glue cartridges. Its lightweight, durable plastic construction ensures easy handling, while the metal push rods guarantee stable, consistent performance over time.

Core Functions: Why It’s Irreplaceable

1. Precision Ratio Control: The biggest challenge with AB glue is mixing the two components correctly (e.g., 1:1, 2:1). The adhesive dispensing gun solves this by using a synchronized push rod system: squeezing the trigger drives both pistons forward at the same speed, ensuring the glue is extruded in the exact factory-set ratio—no more guesswork, no more wasted glue from incorrect mixing.

2. Effortless Application: Leveraging the lever principle, the gun reduces the force needed to extrude thick adhesives. Even for high-viscosity structural glues, a light squeeze of the trigger delivers a steady flow, making long-term use less tiring.

3. Compatibility with Mixing Nozzles: It pairs seamlessly with static mixing nozzles (attached to the gun’s front). As the two glue components pass through the nozzle’s spiral channels, they mix thoroughly without manual stirring—saving time and avoiding air bubbles that weaken bonds.

Who Needs It?

This tool is a must-have for anyone working with AB adhesives:

DIY & Craft Enthusiasts: For bonding jewelry, model kits, or small household repairs.

Construction Professionals: For installing tiles, stone, or lightweight building materials.

Electronics Technicians: For precision bonding of circuit boards and small components.
